Your contribution to a sustainable way of living Read more...
Only 45 days to go when world leaders and governments, private sector and NGO representatives will come together in Brazil at the Rio+20 United Nations Conference for Sustainable Development. The Participants will discuss and (hopefully) agree on a concept for a sustainable development of our planet.
What’s sustainable development? Here is the UN formula: “Sustainable development meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
The word “needs” of present and future generations seems to be the determining factor. Imagine, we produce less plastics, we cut no more trees as we plant, we consume local products and reduce the CO2 emission due to transport of goods, we focus more on useful and long term products than on bling-bling once, … we can do so much to change our needs and thus also change needs of future generations for a sustainable way of living.
For global concept on sustainable development to succeed, it will need to be put in practice by all of us.
In the days to go to Rio+20 Conference, we would like to know your individual “formula” for a sustainable development, i.e. all the small efforts everyone can do to preserve our natural resources for future generations.
Watch the below video “Our little world” (Credits & Contact) and express yourself by posting your idea here on our Ecoblog or on our Facebook page.
Dear friends of Ecofund, check out the AgirEcologie website: there you will find examples of small and simple daily green gestures to protect our environment (what and how to recycle your garbage, how to save water and energy at home, how to consume in a sustainable and responsible way, etc).
The website is not about changing your entire lifestyle but about small efforts which become your new good green habits. Let’s act and protect our environment !
What: World Migratory Bird Day is a global awareness-raising campaign highlighting the need for the protection of migratory birds and their habitats. People around the world take action and organise public events such as bird festivals, education programmes and birdwatching excursions.
World Migratory Birds Day will be celebrated in Dakar over the weekend of 12-13 May. Even in a vibrant capital city, there is much to observe and discover about bird migration. In the spring of 2011 it was noticed for the first time that roseate terns (pictured) passed through the city's Baie de N'Gor in internationally important numbers. Come and learn more about how your observations could contribute in elucidating migration, and so better protect the migrating birds.
