We are proud to announce that Ecofund has won the Second Prize in the APPS4AFRICA West Africa competition, organized by the US American Department of State. The results were announced on December 7th in Durban at the 17th international conference on climate change COP17.
Apps 4 Africa is a pan-African competition with the goal of promoting local technology entrepreneurs as they build tools to serve the needs of the local community. This unprecedented partnership meshes civil society with developers and designers to create technical solutions to local environmental challenges.
Ecofund won the second prize for its forum: a web-based community organizer and geo-localized data exchange tool to help individuals and communities working on sustainable resource management throughout Africa to share their own experiences on best practices. Thus they will better understand and respond to the climate change challenges impacting each specific local context. The Forum will also give those communities a voice that should alert political decision makers to address climate change challenges in time.
